Specialised weapons that don’t aim for specific targets, as much as the preferred area of effect.

What Are Explosives?

Weapons with the ability to handle multiple targets at once, at the risk of collateral damage.

Similar to shotguns and their variant ammo types, explosives are more about the payload than the delivery method; their choice comes in a wide variety of grenades.

Grenades can be thrown, but the exact same items could be loaded into a launcher to increase your range.

<aside> 💡 Grenades include Frags, EMP, Incendiary, Toxic Gas, Sonic, and Plasma!

Unique Information

Indirect Aiming

Unlike most ranged weapons, explosives don’t need to target a creature in order to be used effectively. As every Explosive, whether it’s a grenade or rocket, has some kind of area of effect, you only need to land it near the target.

Choose a square where you want the explosive to land, and roll to hit as normal.

Rather than comparing this against the target’s Evasion and Shields, your accuracy depends on the range you targetted compared to the maximum range of the method of delivery (e.g. thrown, grenade launcher, etc).

If the roll is equal to or above the number for that range, it lands exactly where the user wants.

If the roll is lower than the required total, it lands off-course. It’s up to the GM where exactly it lands, with the lower the total meaning it lands further from its target location.

For a critical fail on the roll, we recommend the explosive lands near an ally of the user (assuming they’re nearby), or is a dud and doesn’t explode at all.

How does this system interact with characters? Evasion/Shields, etc.
