The setting of The Far Wastes.

Pre-Poc

The world of The Far Wastes is based on one similar to our own, but a fictionalised future version. As it was the future even before the apocalypse.

The world was split between a few massive world powers; mega-countries, empires, giant nations. They controlled every inch of land in the world, and even divided the oceans between them, walling them off and reserving exclusive rights to them.

They competed ruthlessly for resources and stability, the world always on the brink of all-out war.

With virtually every great power knowing a world-ending conflict was looming on the horizon, they each searched for their own ways to survive or win it.

Deep in the North Atlantic Ocean, owned by the United Empire of Grand Britain, it is said that a lab had found a way to secure pre-emptive victory for the UE.

Unwilling to risk the UE’s bragging being…y’know…true, the Free States struck first.

They had a rough idea where the underwater lab was located, but just to be safe they launched the largest nuclear weapon in the history of the planet.

Everything kicked off.

The world devolved into nuclear fire.

The blast from the Free States’ nuke made a crater so large that almost the entire walled off North Atlantic Ocean drained into it.

Fast forward a couple of hundred years to the game’s setting.
