There are seven classes that can be played, spanning a range of specialisations and playstyles.

What Are Classes

Player characters must pick a class to determine the active and passive abilities to which they will have access in the game. Each class represents a way of interacting with the world, and defines the tools they will favour, the weapons they will use, and - to a lesser degree - the role they will play.

Will you be a Soldier, laying down withering salvos of gunfire, or a Machninist, supporting your allies from a safer distance by way of advanced tech? Do you prefer the tangible heft of a melee weapon in hand as a teleporting Transiter, or do your fingers itch for the wild and temperamental inventions of the Scrapper?

After choosing a class, you must then also pick a subclass; a specialisation among your preferred field. While your choice of class is about what general sphere of abilities you possess, the subclass is much more about how you’ll use those abilities to achieve your goals.

Stand defiant against all comers as the Bastion Soldier, or shout encouragement and inspiring words to buff your allies as the Commander Soldier. Both can wield the same guns, but each in their own way.

All classes have a maximum level of 25, with something new unlocked each level.

Every alternating level, starting at Lv2, is Honing; a chance to improve your stats or gain new abilities.

Each class has common abilities among the subclasses.

Think carefully about which class and subclass you’d like to play. Once you’ve decided, you can’t change it later in the game.

Optional: Level 0

Intended for players new to The Far Wastes, or TTRPGs in general, Level 0 will be simplified versions of the classes.

If your group want to learn the game, or want to try the basics of a class before jumping into the unique features of the subclasses, this is how they can do that.
